Learning Ally Audiobook Manager Troubleshooting

Installation

Q. I’m trying to download and install the Learning Ally Audiobook Manager, and I receive the error message, “Learning Ally … can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and Identified developers.” (Mac)

A. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Go to Security & Privacy
  3. Go to the General Tab
  4. If needed, click the padlock in the bottom left hand corner, to allow changes to be made
  5. Under “Allow applications download from:” choose Anywhere
  6. Click the lock, close the Security & Privacy window, and try the download again

Q. The Learning Ally Audiobook Manager Installer file downloaded. I clicked on the Installer file, but nothing is happening. (Mac)

A. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open a Finder Window.
  2. Go to the Downloads folder and double click on the LABookshelfManagerInstaller.dmg
  3. Click on the LABookShelfManagerInstaller under Devices.  Double click on the LABookshelfManagerInstaller.pkg
  4. Click Continue.  Follow the Installer prompts.

Q. I logged into the Learning Ally Audiobook Manager and I received the error message “The password supplied is not valid”

A. Please verify that you are typing in the correct password.  Learning Ally passwords are case sensitive. If you need help recalling your password, please visit Forgot password or call 1-800-221-4792.

Q. Why do I receive a Web Timeout Error when I login to the Learning Ally Audiobook Manager?

A. The Learning Ally Audiobook Manager will not function properly past 150 books.  If you remove books from your bookshelf, you should be able to successfully login to the Audiobook Manager.

Bookshelf

Q. I added a book to My Bookshelf, but I do not see it listed on the bookshelf in my Learning Ally Audiobook Manager.

A. Please click “Refresh Book List” in the Learning Ally Audiobook Manager.  You should now see your title on the bookshelf.

Adding a Player

Q. I’m trying to add Learning Ally ReadHear as my player.  I click the “Install this player” link, and it brings me to a Help page.

A. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Close the Audiobook Manager
  2. Login to your Learning All online account
  3. Go to your Bookshelf and start the path to install ReadHear by clicking on “Choose a Device” or “Switch to another Device”
  4. Install ReadHear Software
  5. Once the installation is complete, open the Audiobook Manager, and you will be able to successfully add ReadHear as your player.

Q. I received the error “Failed Sync-Network Connection Error” when downloading my book.

A. Please check that you are properly connected to the internet and try the download again.

If you are a school downloading, please check that you have input your Proxy settings into the Learning Ally Audiobook Manager in Settings -> General Settings.

In order to download our books, users will need to be able to download ZIP files from our content delivery network site:

http://rfbd.vo.llnwd.net

Be sure that your firewall and other internet security settings allow download from this site.

Q. I received the error “Failed Sync -File System Error: not enough privileges to write to the player (1131)” when downloading my book.

A. Please check the location that your download is going to and verify that you do have permission to download to that location.  Also, check that you have enough free space to download to that location. If you are downloading to an SD card, please make sure that the card is not locked.

Q. I’m syncing to ReadHear software.  I hit Sync Now in the Audiobook Manager, but nothing is happening. (Mac)

A. Please follow the steps below:

  1. In the Audiobook Manager, click Manage Players
  2. Click Add a player to Learning Ally Audiobook Manager
  3. Click Manually Manage My Files
  4. Click Add player details and then Add this player
  5. Remove ReadHear as your player and then close the Audiobook Manager
  6. Uninstall and then reinstall Learning Ally ReadHear
  7. Open the Audiobook Manager and add ReadHear as your player
  8. Remove Manually Manage My Files as a player option
  9. Try the sync again
