What is Learning Ally Audio?

Learning Ally Audio is a DAISY-compatible app available for installation onto your iOS or Android device.  You may download Learning Ally Audio directly from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Learning Ally membership is required to use this app.

I’m not a Learning Ally member. How can I sign up for membership?
You may sign up for an individual membership online. A documented learning or print disability is required to qualify for membership.

How do I order books and transfer them on my device?
Log in to your account, and use the Book Catalog to search and add books to your Bookshelf. (Please note that Learning Ally membership is required to use this app).   Then, go to Learning Ally Audio on your iOS or Android device to download.

How do I use this app?

How do I download Learning Ally Audio?
Learning Ally members in good standing can download the Learning Ally Audio at the App Store or the Google Play Store for free. You will need an iTunes or Google account to purchase.

Can I sync the Learning Ally Audio App to more than one iOS or Android device?
Yes, you can sync the Learning Ally Audio App to 10 registered iOS devices per iTunes account.

You can sync the Learning Ally Audio app to as many of your Android devices as you like, so long as it is connected to the Google account used to purchase it.

Will my Learning Ally Audio App expire?
No. There is no expiration date on Learning Ally Audio. You will need to be a Learning Ally member in good standing to log into your account.

Will I see the text of my books during playback?
 If your audiobook is a VoiceText title, you will see the text and hear the audio playback.  If it is a Classic Audio title, you will only hear the audio of the book.

What if I don’t know or forgot my login and password?
Retrieve your login information or retrieve your password.

What do I do if my login failed?
The username and password are case sensitive, so please ensure your login and password is typed correctly.  Also, your Learning Ally membership must be in good standing. If you believe your membership has lapsed, please contact Customer Support at custserv@learningally.org or by phone at 800-221-4792.

Membership

Do I need to be a member to use Learning Ally Audio?
Yes. You must be a member in good standing and have an online account. You will be required to log into your Learning Ally account to activate the App.

Technical

What devices are compatible with Learning Ally Audio?

iOS Devices

Learning Ally Audio is compatible with:

  • iPad
  • iPod Touch
  • iPhone

All of the devices listed require an iOS version of 3.2 or higher.

If you wish to make use of Apple’s VoiceOver feature it is compatible with the following versions of these devices:

  • iPod touch second and third generation devices that are 16 GB and higher
  • iPod touch fourth generation models
  • iPhone  5, 4GS, 4G and 3GS models
  • iPads support this capability

Android Devices

Learning Ally Audio is compatible with:

  • Google Nexus 7 & 10
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 & S4
  • Asus FonePad
  • Motorola DROID RAZR

All of the devices listed need to be running Android OS 4.1 or later.

If you wish to make use of Android’s Talkback feature, it is compatible with all of the devices listed above.

What books will work with Learning Ally Audio?
This product plays Learning Ally Downloadable DAISY books as well as unprotected DAISY 2.0 content.

Can I download books directly within the Learning Ally Audio App?
Yes, you can download books directly within the Learning Ally Audio App. For instructions, please refer to the quick start guide or the Help section within the app.

What if the Learning Ally Audio App gets deleted from my device?
Learning Ally encourages all users to back up their downloads as iTunes and the Google Play store recommends. In the event your App is deleted and you have not backed up your download, you will need to contact Apple or Google.

How do I turn off the beeps and other audio feedback in the app (iOS only)?
Open the “Settings” App on your device and select the “Learning Ally Audio” item. You can adjust “Beep Volume” here.

I am receiving an error when I try to download a book within the Learning Ally Audio App?
Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of the quick start for common errors and solutions or visit Learning Ally Audio Troubleshooting.

Schools

What if I’m a school who wants to buy Learning Ally Audio?
You can download individual copies of the Learning Ally Audio app for your school as long as you are a member in good standing with an online account.
