On the birthday of Dr. Seuss, we celebrate Read Across America day by connecting students with our Great Reading Games featured author, Lauren Tarshis of the I Survived series. Read the books, use curriculum found on her site, and register to watch the webinar with the author.
Lauren will detail her unlikely journey from struggling reader to children's author. She'll then answer student questions to lead her into a detailed discussion of her life as an author -- how she researches her books, the challenges she faces, how she develops her characters and plots, how she writes draft after draft after draft. Her objective is to give students insight into the writing and research process, to arm them with tools that will enhance their experience as readers and writers, and to inspire them to overcome obstacles -- as she did -- to achieve their highest goals.
