Board Member

Nicole is a graduate of Harvard College and Yale Law School; she spent a year after law school clerking for the Honorable Stephen F. Williams at the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She also brings to the board more than a decade of experience as a financial analyst and portfolio manager for organizations ranging in size from as small as a start-up investment firm, a $1 billion hedge fund, a medium-sized institutional brokerage firm specializing in the distressed market, to as large as Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s investment banking division.

Nicole has devoted her professional energies in the last several years to educating and advocating for her three children and others with special needs, first in New York and then in Tennessee. She holds a certificate in special needs advocacy from the Vanderbilt Advocacy Project. Previously, in New York, she cofounded and served on the steering committee of Croton Alliance for Academic Achievement, a grassroots organization advocating for local public schools to provide math acceleration and other enrichment opportunities for gifted students. She has also created curriculum for and taught enrichment classes to middle-school students.

Nicole has a particular interest in the use of technologies to promote independent learning among students, and to assist teachers in individualizing instruction and curriculum.
