Job Description: The Engagement Marketing Associate (EMA) drives the creation of operational plans in support of the strategy to drive ever deeper and broader engagement among Learning Ally’s community members. This role leads the planning, development, implementation and execution of one-to-one and one-to-many communication in both online and offline channels, to drive engagement among constituent groups, including donors, volunteers, members and partners. The EMA is responsible for both the creation, formatting and distribution of campaigns and the day-to-day activities to maintain, manage and analyze their success.  This role requires the use of paid, earned, shared and owned media, along with a strong understanding of branding and consumer insights, and the ability to tailor content to different audiences.  

Responsibilities:

  • Create integrated marketing/communication plans including email, SEO and SEM, advertising, direct mail, conferences and web activities.  

  • Implement plans by leading the development of online and offline executions, including mass and personalized emails through Mailchimp and Netsuite, web updates, brochures, promotional materials, community event marketing, etc.

  • Develop communication calendar for newsletters designed to nurture Learning Ally community members and encourage deeper engagement.

  • Develop original content, revise existing content  and provide ongoing writing and editing support with a unique voice for targeted constituent groups appropriate for all channels, including email blasts, blog stories, web articles, e-newsletters, volunteer outreach, donor cultivation, and print collateral Ensure content is built to feature relevant key words in order to best leverage SEO and SEM.

  • Act as the link between internal clients to ensure clear understanding of prioritization, requirements and expected outcomes and on-target, on-budget, on-time delivery of high quality integrated marketing collateral that articulates Learning Ally’s value and vision.  Provide daily coordination with internal departments to ensure efficient progress and clear communication among team members.

  • Regularly collaborate with other marketing partners (Public Relations Director, Social Media Community Leader, SEO agency, Design Consultant, Freelance Creative Director, Director of Digital Fundraising, Manager of Individual Giving, School Marketing lead) to enhance all strategies, programs, and share learnings, content, communications across the organization

  • Monitor and analyze program results and provide timely and regular campaign reporting with recommendations on member/prospective member, donor and volunteer research for on-going communication enhancements.  Provide regular updates to apprise management of project status and key developments, obstacles or scheduling variances.

  • Support preparation for annual National Achievement Awards events.

  • Daily monitoring of and prompt response to inbound communication from constituents.

  • Manage Conference Plan and coordination of exhibit booth, attendance, presentations, etc.

  • Participate in other Learning Ally activities as required to achieve organizational goals.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years of non-profit or business experience with demonstrated track record of success in marketing and/or communication.  
  • Consumer Writing experience required
  • Fundraising experience is a plus
  • Excellent computer (Google App, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills  
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience in a highly collaborative/team environment 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines and with a minimum of supervision
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills and confidence working with senior level stakeholders, colleagues and vendors

  • Strong planning, time management
