Learning Ally, formerly Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, is developing exciting new products to help make reading accessible for all... and we need your expertise.
Where can I access Learning Ally’s Volunteer Text Editor?
- This is an online tool so you’ll be able to volunteer anywhere you have internet access... at home, at the library, at the coffee shop, or maybe even at one of our studios located nearest to you.
What problem does Learning Ally’s Volunteer Text Editor solve?
- Many audiobooks are created with text-to-speech software that scans text from computer files and uses synthesized human voices to read the text aloud. However, illustrations or figures used throughout the books are not included.
How can I participate?
- Volunteers will be able to type those figure descriptions into the text, enabling students to receive ALL book material — not just the text.
- Also ideal for Corporate Volunteer Programs looking to tap into the wealth of expertise their employees bring to the table.
Who can I help?
- You can play an important role in the testing and functionality prior to official rollout. It’s a great chance to use your expertise in a way that will help children and adults continue their education, and ultimately achieve their dreams!
General orientation sessions are forming now. For more information, email us at volunteer@LearningAlly.org.
