Studio Hosts the Santa Barbara Newcomers Club

On Thursday, October 27, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., the Santa Barbara Newcomers Club (www.sbnewcomers.org) will have a special wine and hors d'oeuvres meeting at the Santa Barbara studio to find out about Learning Ally’s work nationally and within the local schools. Volunteer opportunities will also be discussed, along with how to become a Learning Ally supporter in different capacities.

Santa Barbara Studio Volunteer Recognition

The Santa Barbara volunteers will be recognized for their dedicated work at an event held June 10th at an historic adobe building downtown, located at 15 East Carrillo Street. The site is being donated by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, through the Santa Barbara Foundation.

Different Ways to Read Across America: Record-A-Thon 2011

Record-A-Thon LogoThe Santa Barbara Youth Corp came in to support Santa Barbara’s Record-A-Thon. The primary goal of the Youth Corps program is to offer young men and women ages 14 to 21 an opportunity to earn a paycheck by serving their community and providing them with life skills training, education and real world work experience. Volunteer Bob Nieder (pictured) dressed as the Cat in the Hat to greet the Youth Corp and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday during Record-A-Thon. Santa Barbara also had seven sponsors that sent groups to record during R-A-T week! New sponsors included Community West Bank and Maps.com.
