Volunteer Offers Challenge

A volunteer at the Learning Ally Boca Raton Studio, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered a challenge for donations made to the studio until December 31, 2011. The volunteer has promised to match, dollar for dollar, all donations received from volunteers and guests, up to $5,000.00.

Princeton Visitor at the Learning Ally Hour

On November 8, 2011, Leontyne Anglin, Learning Ally’s Director, Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships, came out from Princeton to visit the Boca Raton Studio’s “Learning Ally Hour.” Two dozen volunteers, community leaders and individuals being introduced to our organization for the first time attended the free “Learning Ally Hour.” Attendees ranged from an 18-year old high school senior, who has been volunteering at Learning Ally's Boca Raton studio for three years, to a volunteer who has been with the organization for nearly 50 years.

First Learning Ally Hour – Success!

photo of Helen AllenThe Boca Raton recording studio, on the campus of Florida Atlantic University (FAU), held the studio’s first Learning Ally Hour on Saturday, September 10, 2011. More than two dozen area residents attended this informative event that was highlighted by the presence of a Learning Ally member, Ann Marie Lucie Bedard, and Florida author, William Allen, and his wife Helen. Those attending learned about Learning Ally's services in the State of Florida and across the nation. Attendees had the chance to tour the studio and to see, first-hand, Learning Ally's audiobooks in production, and sign up for future volunteer training opportunities.

Welcome Jill Brondolo to the Florida Board of Directors

Jill Brondolo, new Learning Ally Boca Raton board memberJoin Learning Ally in welcoming Jill Brondolo to the board of directors of the Florida Unit! Jill became a member of Recording for the Blind (RFB) in 1977, soon after she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa and declared legally blind. Jill is currently the Learning Specialist for the Office for Students with Disabilities at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Boca Raton campus, where she has worked since 1999. She continues to use Learning Ally’s audiobooks and counsels FAU students in the use of accessible educational materials.
