Each year, Record-A-Thon is an exciting weeklong event where volunteers raise funds, create awareness and put in extra hours at the microphone to transform printed textbooks into easy-to-navigate audio books. The volunteers in the Athens studio named this year’s Record-A-Thon Read One for the Team! They united with sports fans, coaches and special guests from University of Georgia as well as local authors.

Honorary Chair Barbara Dooley in the recording boothHonorary chair and special guest Barbara Dooley (radio host and wife of long-time UGA football coach, Vince Dooley) volunteered on February 29, which was celebrated as Media Day and helped generate some news coverage of the event.

Online Athens, WGAU 1340 Radio, and Columns (The University of Georgia Community Newspaper) covered the event with stories, pictures and interviews with staff and volunteers.

Volunteers participated in fundraising raffles, door prizes and enjoyed refreshments from local restaurants that donated food for the event.
