Experience the Power of Self-Advocacy at Our National Achievement Awards

Categories: Learning Disabilities, National Achievement Awards

You’re invited to a day of family education in celebration of our National Achievement Awards

YES! ambassadors"The Power of Self-Advocacy" Saturday, April 18, 2015 9:30 – 11:00 am Marriott Marquis 901 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington, DC 20001 What is self-advocacy? It is your child’s ability to identify their strengths and challenges, understand how they learn best, and effectively communicate it to others. This important life skill must be taught, encouraged and nurtured both at school and at home. Strong self-advocates are empowered to achieve success in the classroom and beyond. This powerful presentation featuring the YES! Ambassadors from Colorado — a group of students with dyslexia who teach their peers about learning differences — will introduce children, parents and educators to self-advocacy strategies. The students will share examples, presentations, and materials that they have personally used to overcome reading struggles, advocate for themselves, and build their confidence. The presentation will conclude with a Q & A session and assistive technology demonstrations. Don’t miss this educational and empowering event! There is no cost to attend this event. Questions?
