It Starts With a Voice

Having the support of public officials at every level means the world to the staff, members and volunteers of Learning Ally. Sometimes that support steps right up to the microphone in a recording booth. Below, Illinois State Representative Emily McAsey narrates a children's book at Learning Ally's recording/production studio in Orland Park, Illinois. Illinois State Representative Emily McCasey reading at Learning Ally's Orland Park studio Rep. McAsey (D-Lockport, 85th District) visited the Orland Park Studio on April 20. As a member of the Illinois House Appropriations for Elementary & Secondary Education Committee, she was very interested in finding out more about Learning Ally's work. She enjoyed visiting with Orland Park volunteers, participating in a mini "listening training," and recording a book dedication. Similar encounters with legislators at the local and state level take place in many of our studio community centers around the country -- they are vital in helping us get the word out about learning differences, assistive tech/services for students, and the public policy influences that our members and families most appreciate.
