Consumer Alert: Not All DAISY Players are Created Equal

Categories: Assistive Technology

Hey everyone. I just hung up the phone after speaking with a parent who was attempting to play RFB&D content on an iPod with an app she purchased online. Well, after a round of Q&A I discovered that although the product could play DAISY content, it was not authorized to play RFB&D DAISY formatted books. I thought it would be good to share this news with you! There are many different types of DAISY hardware and software players out there, (including some apps for iPod and iPad) but many of these commercial systems have not been tested with or approved for earning Ally DAISY CDs or Learning Ally DAISY Downloadable content. We want to ensure you have the best possible experience when using our products. If you’re thinking of buying a software or hardware DAISY playback device, why not contact us first at 800-221-4792 or custserv@LearningAlly.org. One last tip I want to share: next month, Learning Ally will release software enabling our books to be played on a Mac computer. Stay tuned for details. – steph@learningally Who is Steph?
