Categories: Activities, Learning Disabilities

Congratulations to Kathleen Magoffin Dougherty, a talented RFB&D member in Los Angeles, who was awarded First Prize Youth Winner for a hand-drawn poster she submitted to the city's Department on Disability's competition to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In a summer ceremony in L.A. City Hall's Rotunda, Kathleen was presented with her award from the Los Angeles Department on Disability. Her certificate, signed by City Council member Tom LaBonge (4th District) and Eric Garcetti (President, L.A. City Council), reads:
"For your exemplary artistic talent you exhibited for the poster contest commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. Your artwork serves as an education tool, displaying the often hidden abilities and talents of people with disabilities. Most importantly, your art will inspire all people, including those who live with disabilities. May it continue to inspire us all for years to come."
